Marlana and Scott’s Big Day

07.21.10

We recently had the privilage of documenting Marlana Behnke and Scott’s Goldsmith’s wedding.  What a fun wedding it was!  I first saw Scott that day, hanging out with the boys, playing some games and killing some time before the craziness of the wedding day was to begin.  Since the couple has been dating since high school neither of them were very nervous about the “I dos”.   The ceremony was an array of funny and touching moments as family and friends watched the nuptuals taking place in the Spanish Court of the historic Thomas Center.  Then it was off to the fun filled reception at UF’s Hilton.  There was lots of dancing, some very sweet & funny toast and a lot of fun traditions like the Hora, blessing of the Challah and your always fun conga line!  Everyone had a great time and it is super evident when you see the amazing pictures we captured!  Until then, here is a sneak peek of the couples day…

Congrats to the Amy & Cody

06.18.10

We were lucky enough to recently get to document Amy & Cody’s wedding at the Thomas Center.  The Spanish Court was beautiful decorated by Betsy at the Plant Shoppe Florist.  And the happy couple have some fabulous friends.  There were some really funny stories about college life and a great portrait of Cody “Superman” Steeves and the new Amy “Superwoman” Steeves.  Very funny!  And a really touching anniversary dance for Amy’s grandparent who were married the longest.  Amy and Cody both had momentos from family that played an intimate roll in their special day.

After the wedding the happy couple enjoyed an Alaska cruise before heading back to Gainesville to pack up and move to Cary, NC where Cody will attend UNC.  Good luck guys!

Congratulations to the new Mr. & Mrs. Clugston

We had a great time at Audrey and Jay’s wedding a few weeks ago.  It was a beautiful ceremony at Trinty United Methodist Church and then off to the Champions Club to celebrate!  It was a fun evening with Audrey’s family really getting down on the dance floor.  Did I mention the dj was UF’s soccer coach Becky Burleigh.   Then we had some amazing toasts by the maid of honor, best man and Audrey’s dad.  The sweetest toast of the night goes to Jay who toasted his beautiful bride.  It was so sweet.  Speaking of sweet, the couple arranged some Sweet Dream’s ice cream to go with dessert.  Awesome idea.  And none of the boring flavors, we had avacado, a sweet rice and a few other exotic flavors.

We are exited to share a few of the pictures with everyone.  Enjoy.  And again, congratulations Audrey and Jay.

Congratulation to the new Mr. & Mrs McDonald

Julie and Paul had an amazing day and we have the photos to prove it.  Camp Crystal Lake, where they shared there first kiss, was the perfect spot for their ceremony.  It was a beautiful day and the sun came out just prior to the ceremony and made the lake sparkle as they said their vows.  Once that was over, it was off to the party at Paul’s parents home.  There they celebrated tying the knot with all of there friends and family.  There was lots of dancing all night, amazing food (they’re foodies, a couple after my own heart), a dessert bar that was to die for, including cookies shaped like the CCL logo, made by a bridesmaid.

We had a great time documenting there day and look forward to sharing all the photos early next week.  Until then, enjoy this little sampling of pictures.

Audrey & Jay’s engagement session

03.26.10

We had a blast recently photographing Audrey and Jay at Kanapaha Park.  They brought along there cute pooch to include in the their engagement pictures.  And I must say – she was a very well behaved dog (though she does know how to milk it for attention – I think all dogs know how to pull at your heart strings).  Ours would never be so good.   We had a great time strolling around the park getting great moments of the happy couple as they talked about wedding plans for their upcoming May wedding and the honeymoon.  Can’t wait for the wedding in a few more weeks.

Learning from the “Father of Photojournalism”

03.12.10

What does Gregg and Mariah Carey, Paula Abdul, James Taylor, Vera Wang, Ted Turner, John Kennedy, Jr. and Maria Shriver & Arnold Schwarzenegger have in common?   They all know Denis Reggie.

Gregg recently spent a few days studying with world-renowned photographer Denis Reggie (www.denisreggie.com).
Breaking the mold of traditional wedding photography, Denis pioneered the artistic documentation of weddings without posing, prompting, or fictionalizing events – what he named “Wedding Photojournalism”.
Denis Reggie has photographed the weddings of Mariah Carey, Paula Abdul, James Taylor, Vera Wang, Ted Turner, John Kennedy, Jr. and Maria Shriver & Arnold Schwarzenegger to name a few.
Of course, not all of Denis’ clients are celebrities.  This hands off approach is perfect for anyone who isn’t interested in contrived images, but wants natural documentation of their special day.
Gregg learned a few new techniques that we are so excited about adding to our repertoire.  Goes to show you, despite having degrees in photography and over 12 years of experience, there is always more to learn.

Melanie & Jordan

02.19.10

We are soooo excited about Melanie and Jordan’s wedding next weekend. We did Melanie’s big sister’s wedding a year ago and had a blast. I know we will get great pictures from their wedding as well. The happy couple happens to be physical education teachers at schools here in Alachua county. We had a lot of fun at their engagement session and were jealous to learn that they’ll be heading to Sandals for a relaxing honeymoon once school lets out.

Heather and Daniel's beautiful wedding day

01.25.10

What an amazing wedding!  Heather and Daniel are so much fun.  From the time they first met that day at the Baughman Center to the sword fight using marshmallows skewers- at the end of the night, the day was a blast!  Melissa from Masterpiece Weddings coordinated the day masterfully (and gave birth 2 days later).  Dragonfly set up a sushi bar at  the new Villa East and rolled fresh sushi for guests as they waited for the happy newlyweds to arrive.  Once they arrived the party really started.  There was roasting of smores with organic chocolate, wonderful desserts, plate smashing and tons of wonderful food by Celebrations Catering.  Their friends and family partied late into the night enjoying the tunes spun by Wayne’s World Entertainment.  We got lots and lots of great photos – hence the delay in getting the blog up – I had a hard time picking only a couple pictures for the blog.  Gregg and I had a great time and can’t wait for Heather and Daniel to share the rest of their photos with everyone.
